Unrelated, and unbelievable (updated)

UPDATE 7/6: My skate buds over at Escapist Skateboards found the legit video.  So much better when it’s clear!

I try not to post anything non polo related, but this is just too mind melting to not share.  If you are a child of the 80’s like me, then you most certainly owned one of these skateboards.  But I bet you never saw them freakin’ animated!!!  Natas Kaupas, legendary skater himself, submitted an animated short to the Public Domaine art show.  You can check out more of the show by clicking HERE, but Natas stole the show from what I can see, even if I would sell one of my kidneys for a Lance Mountain mini pool coffee table.

Ralph Lauren Hates Chunk

It had to happen, and in Ralph Lauren’s defense, it’s a “protect it or loose it” world.  But, come on now. Ralph Lauren has officially petitioned to cancel logos of ‘Human on a Bike Playing Bike Polo’.  The company at the receiving end of this is Chunk who has a cool line of Bike Polo shirts .  Check out all the gory details in the paperwork that was filed by clicking HERE.

Sound off in the comments, because if Chunk looses, your club tees may be next.

UPDATE: Some folks have pointed out that Polo has sued the US Polo Association , but the few articles that I did find talk about them suing over the creation of a clothing line that looks pretty identical to RL’s Polo.  Usually the complaint in a suit like this, is that customers will be confused with brands too similar (remember todd toys, which is now mcfarlane toys due to a barbie character named Todd?).  These folks aren’t confused though. A little shallow, and hilarious in their vanity, but definitely not confused.  Maybe they want to claim another brand to be their shit though. Regardless, the US POLO ASSN won their case, and you can go to the mall and buy Fashion Polo gear in cities and states where polo probably isn’t even played.  Check out their mall front and magazine ad.

The Big question though is why Chunk did trademark the image of a bike polo player at all?  Standard business practice? Something different?  We’ll let you know when we find out.

Ran across this today, there are 2 more of these saddles available on amazon.  Brooks is always pricey, but always worth it.  Check it out. Kinda like when I found 1st press Swiz Vinyl at the Dischord warehouse a year after it went out of press.

The Swift HBPWC Philadelphia is a limited edition of 250 saddles, featuring red leather top and the impressed logo of the first Hardcourt Bike Polo World Championships held in Philadelphia in 2009.
